OBJECTIVE

 

The 2016 edition aimed to raise awareness among governmental elites, decision makers and opinion leaders of global challenge of Cancer. Riviera Talks was honoured to welcome Dr. Christopher Wild, director of the United-Nations International Agency for Research on Cancer, and Professor Manuel Sobrinho Simões, 2015 most influent pathologist in the world.

 

BENEFIT

 

The 2016 edition of the Bal de la Riviera was held under the High Patronage and in the Presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco. All profits of the 2016 Bal de la Riviera edition have been donated to the Lalla Salma Foundation, Cancer prevention and treatment. Amount raised €800.000

 

THE LALLA SALMA FOUNDATION

 

Since its creation in 2005, the Lalla Salma Foundation against cancer works hand in hand with all its partners, to make of the fight against cancer a public health priority in Morocco and the region. The Foundation Lalla Salma aims at setting up a national plan dedicated to fight cancer which will apply the best clinical practices, by implementing a strategy using an innovative and participative approach adapted to the specificities of the country.

In addition to the aforementioned presence of HRH Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco and event hosts Prince and Princess Charles-Philippe d'Orléans, the event was attended by prominent figures of European royalty, such as Princess Maria Gabriela of Savoy, the Duke of Braganza, Prince George of Russia and Princess Béatrice of Bourbon.

 

There was also the presence of personalities such as the Spanish adventurer, holder of 14 world records, Álvaro de Marichalar, the entrepreneur Tamara Ralph, owner of Ralph and Russo, international journalist Baria Alamuddin, mother in law of George Clooney, Sonia Falcone, the Kazakhstan entrepreneur Marta Doskarina, the CEO of Portugal Telecom and the CEO of Morocco Telecom, among Portuguese politicians, wealthy Europeans and other personalities.
